Arrest made as work to tackle robberies continues |

Dear Resident, We are continuing to work hard to tackle robberies, and an investigation into an incident in Sutton Coldfield has led to an arrest being made. Reducing robbery offences across the West Midlands is a priority for us, and we’re tackling it head on – with offenders being targeted and crime prevention advice being shared across the region. In Sutton, it was reported that a boy in his late teens was threatened and robbed near the railway station on Friday 25 September, and local officers set to work investigating. A boy aged 15 was later arrested and has since been bailed with strict conditions as our enquiries continue. We are still asking anyone with information to contact us via 101 or Live Chat on our website, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference 20/413642/26. Sutton Coldfield Neighbourhood Inspector Fran McHugh said: "We know the lasting effect robbery can have on people, and we understand the concern it causes in the community. "Dedicated Neighbourhood Officers are listening to these concerns, and working with response and investigation teams to investigate reported crimes and bring offenders to justice. "With half term approaching and the nights drawing in, I'd urge young people and parents to read our crime prevention advice and understand the steps that can be taken to protect yourself and your valuables. "You'll continue to see high-visibility patrols in key locations and we're asking anyone with concerns to speak to local officers. “If you’re a victim of this type of crime, it’s vital you report it to us, so we can plan our patrols and allocate resources effectively." To report crime, call 101 or use Live Chat on our website. Always call 999 in an emergency. To read more Operation Ruby – our ongoing work to tackle robbery – click here.
